It is indeed a good idea that Hillary Clinton attend the swearing in ceremony of president Hamid karzai. The Afghans will feel encouraged that the US Secretary of State attended notwithstanding the threat of the terror outfits.
Secondly, Hamid karzai will not only feel important but also will have the overseeing eyes of an important functionary of the United States. The perennial problem of corruption at various levels of the government in Afghanistan is sapping the nation's energy and is in turn encouragfing the islamist terror outfits.
Rooting out corruption should be the top priority of the new government when Karzai begins his second term in office. Much has been said about the corrupt practices in voting. It should be left behind and a new chapter should herald a new sun rise in Afghanistan.
