HEART-LUNG DISEASES NUMBER ONE KILLERS

AUM. HEART DISEASES REPLACE SEXUAL AIDS AS KILLER No ONE By Chitranjan Sawant You and I have no choice of diseases to contract to quit this world. Our mind and heart will pick and choose and decide for you. If you gave wrong signals to HEART, you are bound to get wrong food on despicable tray. Formerly human beings contracted sexually transmitted diseases owing to promiscuity. Sharing the bed with more than one female and vice-versa was considered fashionable and also an outward proof of virility. Men and women; mostly men floated the self made theory that Man is polygamous by nature and it is the Hindu Dharma or Christianity that enforces monogamy. Islam promotes polygamy but their followers are as sex starved as anyone else. SEXUAL SATISFACTION WITH ONE PARTNER When sexually transmitted diseases started taking a heavy toll of human beings, it was decided to make polygamy a social taboo for one and all irrespective of personal faith. Both men and women were advised to have only one sex-partner and bid pluralism adieu. The moralists in society succeeded in controlling the sexually transmitted diseases taking a heavy human toll. DELIVERANCE CELEBRATED MEN AND WOMEN THREW PARTIES TO ENJOY LIFE. WOMEN NOW JOINED IN FOR THE LATE NIGHT PARTIES TOO. THE MOTTO OF REVELLERS WAS: EAT DRINK AND BE MERRY FOR WHO KNOWS WHAT IS IN STORE FOR YOU TOMORROW. "Forget about Domani, Domani never comes." It was a film song that hit the top level of popularity. Even those who knew no English, hummed the tune of this English cum Italian song. When the ball dances gained in public acclaim, even greenhorns in dancing made a debut on public stage too. Liberalisation in smoking, eating, drinking and dancing brought in its wake new diseases. HEART AND LUNG DISEASES From time immemorial Heart has been associated with Love, or lack of it. The jilted lovers thought that heart had been given undue credit for Love and Loveless, the faculties and functions it knows nothing about. However, studies in how to have a healthy heart and how to counter or get over new fangled heart diseases increased many fold. Admittedly Heart pumps blood to all limbs of the body but it also needs blood for its own functioning. The new phenomenon of over smoking and eating fat rich diet without doing any exercise led to clogging of arteries and caused breathlessness or a feeling of tiredness. It led to bypass surgery and in difficult cases even open heart surgery had to be performed. Likewise over smoking and lack of physical exercise coupled with rich food containing lot of fats led to lung diseases and cardio-vascular problems that required urgent solutions. Of course, the main culprit for making lungs sick is smoking of tobacco in one form or the other. Heart surgery or taking a peep into lungs that were a cause of ill health led to fatal results at times. Before the advancement of cardio diagnosis and treatment, there were many a cardiac arrests on the operation table. Sometimes in simple procedures like angio-plasty or ballooning, an artery might be punctured with the needle inserted to clear the way for blood circulation in arteries that supply blood to Heart for its own functioning. In some cases patients died of profuse bleeding right on the operation table. Such incidents put fear in hearts and minds of prospective money bags of the hospitals and they refrained from going on the operation table. The pre-procedure nursing staff tries to counsel the patient just before the surgical procedure begins. How far will she succeed, one cannot say for sure at this point of time. Mending lungs led to a total collapse of lungs at times. It is perhaps human nature to avoid going to a hospital and consulting a surgeon as far as possible. Thus the heart and lung diseases take a heavy toll of lives of human beings who prefer to sit at home and avoid a clinic or a hospital. Moral of the story is: it is your heart; it is your lung and if you do not take care of them who else will. The answer is, None, my lord, none. Every human being wishes to live and live long. Those who wish to live long must take precautions and observe some simple directions on intake of food, doing light exercises and warding off the youth killer called Depression. Eat simple food, do light exercises and laugh a lot. Boys and girls in impressionable period of life may be encouraged to take even professional counselling on coming out of that state of depression. It would be in the interest of boys and girls going through a phase of depression NOT to lie, sit or sleep alone. Having said that, let me add that every student should have at least a couple of friends who would lend their shoulders to the student in depression to keep his head there and cry as much as he or she wished to. This will lighten pressure on his heart and mind and also know for sure that he has friends who would turn up and help him solve the problem and thus ward of the imminent crisis. Self-motivation to live long, live a healthy life and pass on the baton to the new generation will always show a person light at the end of the tunnel. If one falls on bad days and has health problems, tell yourself: every cloud has a silver lining. This too shall pass. Sharing a personal experience with our readers I may say that making a suggestion to myself has helped me in more ways than one. I pray “jeevem sharadah shatam”or saying it in English “May God guide me to be a Centenarian.” The same Veda mantra further says that the long life must be a healthy life where one is on one’s own and never dependant on others mentally, physically, financially or spiritually. CORRUPTION THE ONLY CNSTANT IN INDEPENDENT INDIA

AUM

CORRUPTION THE ONLY CONSTANT SINCE INDEPENDENCE
By Chitranjan Sawant
Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, was indeed the uncrowned king from 1947 to 1964 when he breathed his last. With a view to preventing cockroaches from roaming all over the place, the cook chose to put in a couple of hours beyond the normal schedule and earned the appreciation of one and all. Both the servants and the master knew that the said time curfew won’t last long. How right they were. That night the top bureaucrat of the district did not eat at home and not in his office either. A man of yester years, he did not have any plans to march to the District Magistrate’s office to record his protest at the rampant corruption in the country.
NEHRU HAD CORRUPT CRONIES
VK Krishna Menon was Nehru’s bum chum. During the first shooting war between India and Pakistan from 27th October 1947 to 1st January 1949, a large number of jeeps were required for the Indian Army. VK KrishnaMenon, our High Commissioner in the UK was entrusted with the job of making purchases at reasonable rates. The trusted friend of Nehru’s bought old jeeps and paid price of brand new ones. This transaction was the mother of corruption in making purchases for the Armed Forces. There was tremendous criticism of the deal. To defend his friend of long standing, Nehru, the tallest of the tall politicians misused his position and power and rode roughshod over all adverse observations. It left a bad taste in the mouth of the people of India but Nehru moved on unconcerned.
Sardar Pratap Singh Kairon was the powerful but corrupt chief minister of the Punjab. There was hardly major monetary transaction wherein he or his sons did not make large amounts of money, to be precise it was slush money. Complaints of corruption against Kairon landed on Nehru’s table every now and then. For friendship’s sake, Nehru ignored them until senior cabinet ministers forced his hands. Kairon was eased out but it was too little and too late. He paid with his life as some aggrieved persons shot him dead on the highway. Corruption cases of Nehru’s friend lingered in public memory for a long time and gave him a bad name.
REFRESHING CHANGE
Lal Bahadur Shastri succeeded Nehru and brought a refreshing change. He was honest to a fault. Shastri Ji and his large family lived within honest means, never chased money nor tried to be one up with the Jones’s. His life was a landmark of transparency. Under his leadership India fought a war with Pakistanin1965 and won. Shastri Ji evolved a new military doctrine of attacking the enemy where he is weak even after crossing the internal borders in the Punjab. India was victorious and the credit goes to Shastri Ji, the Honest Prime Minister. After a long time honesty had replaced dishonesty in the corridors of power. He had procured military equipment in large numbers and the entire deal was done honestly.
MONEY MATTERS MADE A RETURN
Indira Gandhi made a debut like a dumb doll. However, her roar was heard across the seven seas. As stated before, she dismembered Pakistan and made the enemy troops,93,000 of them, surrender. Indira Ji relied on her staff tremendously. Corruption was reborn. Purchases of weapon system, equipment and clothing were made. A lot of money changed hands under the table. It was her personal staff that became rich and richer with sleaze money. Admittedly, she was not involved in small deals but when the deal was a much bigger one than expected, even she was not above suspicion. I must hasten to add that by and large the people loved her. The only stigma was that of imposing Emergency which she could not play down.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. When there was no one to challange the action or inaction of the govt, he or she was shown the exit door of the office and the entrance door of the Tihar Jail. The life in jail was tough and imprisonment rigorous. It is said that the Jail surpassed the Police dept in indulging into corruption.
Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own security guards who were Sikhs and wished to avenge the sacrilege of their Golden Temple in Operation Blue Star to flush out fugitives like Bindrawale or a retired major general.
Rajiv Gandhi came to power with a lot of hopes for making India great. Unfortunately corruption had the better of him and her in-laws and other relatives of Sonia Gandhi had almost made a fiefdom of India. Sonia’s friend, Quattrochi had a free access to wherever he wished to go or whatever he wished to do. Corruption in the purchase of the Bofors howitzer for the Army saw a lot of money changing hands under the table. However, compared with the sleaze money that a former minister, A Raja made in selling Spectrum and airwaves, the 64 crores of Bofors notoriety that the middle men and Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi made pales into insignificance. Rajiv Gandhi got a bad name but not much money.
CASH FOR VOTES ON HOUSE FLOOR
The Narsimha Rao govt was considered weak. In any case at one stage, the govt canvassers fanned out buying votes for cash. This was a new form of Parliamentary corruption that India, nay the world witnessed. It was done with military precision. Atal BehariVajpayee led Opposition left no stone unturned but lost to the new-fangled parliamentary corruption. The notorious name given to it is VOTES FORCASH. Legal cases against corruption on floor of the House were filed and one against Amar Singh,MP is still going on. The new form of corruption and its new name have gone into books of history and do not do us proud. For that matter, corruption and cash changing hands as sleaze money have always been looked down upon as infra dig.
CORRUPTION TOUCHED THE SKY
The motto of the Indian Air Force is:TOUCHING THE SKY WITH GLORY. The corrupt Indian ministers and members of the Parliament have a new motto in making money under the table. It is: even sky is not the limit. Ministers like A. Raja of the Telecom dept or Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games, Suresh Kalmadi, MP allegedly made so much money that even a Maths wizard will fail in counting. Fortunately forthe country both Raja and Kalmadi, not forgetting Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi are behind bars in the Tihar jail.
The story of LaluYadav’s Fodder scam, Mayawati’s creation of wealth disproportionate to known sources of income, Rahul Gandhi’s inability to make an impact in politics because of his involvement in cash deals and so on are stories that come out of closet from time to time. Be that as it may, India that is Bharat is now notorious for corruption, black money and stashing it in foreign banks. Unfortunately, there is no sincere or serious attempt to get the Indian money, black and white, back in India. Even the Prime Minister whines and whimpers but never roars, despite being a Singh, to overawe the corrupt men and women. Their sin is beyond redemption.

Weathering the Storm

GET MARRIED REMAIN MARRIED

Brigadier Chitranjan Sawant,VSM

LIVING-IN is a symptom of the pain inflicted on the society by the Preya marg today. A young man and a young woman share an apartment, share a bed and all that goes with it without getting married. Begetting a child is out of the question. Too much of a bother in bringing up a child. Just have fun and forget the rest. After me the deluge, so says the shirker. Of course, changing partners or having same sex partners is not a taboo to them. Is it a healthy practice? Will it give health and happiness? Who cares. The guardians of the society have to care, though. Otherwise there will be no difference in the lifestyle of humans and animals. Humans contract venereal diseases unlike animals. Humans get depression but animals don’t. A life breeding promiscuity promotes dreaded diseases like AIDS. Indeed, the Epicurean philosophy of life will endanger the human life itself. Where do we go from here?

Get married and remain married – that is the answer. A misogamist may howl and balk at the suggestion of marriage but an average human being will definitely find solace and comfort in the institution of marriage. In a civilised society no husband will live in fear of his pretty wife being snatched away by a muscleman. The institution of law and administration of justice will come to his rescue in an emergent situation.

QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT CONTRIBUTED TO GAINING INDIAN INDEPENDENCE

AUM
INDIAN MASSES ADVANCED: BRITISH EMPIRE RETREATED
By Brigadier Chitranjan Sawant,VSM
It was just another day when I left bed. The future had something in store for the student community. The senior students had been briefed but we juniors were on the periphery, as ignorant as ever. It was the ninth day of August in the year nineteen forty two, 0r 9.8. 42. A momentous day indeed. The history of the Indian freedom movement recorded it as the day when the Indian National Congress gave a clarion call, QUIT INDIA. The Indian people rose as One Man under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and asked the British rulers to go home lock stock and barrel. The British Empirewas too powerful to listen to a call given by the “half naked faqir” as Sir Winston Churchill, the war time British Prime Minister used to address Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who was a Mahatma or a great soul to millions of Indians. The Empire did not budge an inch to accommodate its subjects in India. It issued orders to put down the political upheaval with a heavy hand.
LEADERS LOCKED UP
All leaders of the Congress party were put behind bars in high security prisons, forts and garrison towns. Gandhi Ji and his spouse, Kasturba were the only exception. They were incarcerated in the Agha Khan palace in Poona, now Pune. Since leaders were away from the masses, the people went berserk in many places like Ballia in the United Provinces, Bengal’s interior areas and so on. There was complete chaos and the British government in India was at its wits énd. Many innocent lives of commoners were lost in police firing on peaceful processions and the military too was called out to control the situation. The might of the British Empire was insufficient to control the surge of the people. Moreover, the Second World War was in full fury and the Germans and Japanese were breathing down the neck of the allied forces.
Just about every Indian, man or woman, who had anything to do with the Indian freedom movement, even if remotely, was arrested and put in one jail or the other. Their homes and hearth, their property, both moveable and immoveable, was seized by the district administration and auctioned at the lowest possible price. Since there were no bidders in many cases, low paid governments were gifted all that could not be auctioned. The British officers were more cruel than the Iranian invader, Nadir Shah of the middle ages. One pays a price when fighting for a good cause.
The student community too played a role. We just came out of our classes shouting slogans “Quit India”and in Hindi said “Angrezon, Bharat Chhodo”. Outside our college we formed a procession under the leadership of big boys and held the Tricolour flags in as many hands as possible. The patriotic slogans were never ending and these were punctuated with VANDE MATARAM VANDE MATARAM. It was indeed electrifying. The patriotic fervour had manifested itself in slogan shouting and before long it reached a crescendo. What was music to the Indian ears was certainly jarring to the British ears. The law enforcing agencies, mostly Indians but officered by the British, were around but did not intervene at this stage. The orders had come from the highest of the high to avoid bloodshed and not fire on the student processions as far as possible. The police permitted us to move forward. We were cautioned not to use insulting language against the British rulers, especially the royal family. In return we were permitted to cry our throats hoarse with the Quit India and similar slogans. It was a pleasant surprise to hear both the Hindus and Muslims say in unison VANDE MATARAM.
The concept of Pakistan, backed by the British Empire, was gaining ground. So some diehard pro-Pakistan students had abstained from participating in the procession and shout Quit India lest the English rulers were annoyed. However, the nationalist minded Muslims of Rafi Ahmed Kidwai type did join their Hindu brethren. Their numbers were so low that they could be counted on finger tips.
The students’ procession moved forward towards the Deputy Commissioner’s office located in Kutcherry. As we neared the destination we were stopped from moving forward. The mounted police blocked our way and the armed police cocked their rifles just to scare us. We were made of sterner stuff. The patriotic slogans rent the air with greater fervour and the British sergeants, now present at the scene, were seen using cotton ear plugs lest the ear drums were damaged.
THE SHOW DOWN
The senior students were determined not to turn back as ordered by the police. The British Deputy Commissioner was too busy with the war effort and had no intention of meeting a students’ delegation. Legally speaking, entertaining a freedom fighters delegation would be negating the British policy of not supporting any idea that would detract from the war effort. The students had been permitted to move that far in a procession just to let them express pent up anger and anti-British emotions but that was it. Thus far but no further, the police announced in Hindi. They warned the senior students of consequences if they pressed on and shouted anti-British slogans. The feeble warning did not deter even small boys, what to say of veterans. More slogans, tougher language and a stance of face-off was in the offing. The writing was on the wall.
VANDE MATARAM VANDE MATARAM – THE BLOOD RACED THROUGH OUR VEINS. We, big and small boys alike said that we would sacrifice our lives at the altar of freedom but not retrace our steps. On a pre-determined signal the police swung into action. They used canes, lathis, batons, butts of rifles to break our procession. The brute force was enough to break bodies but not morale. The students sat down wherever they were. The jibes at the Indians in the service of the British Empire infuriated them more. Their brutality reached its peak. The lathi blows were back breaking, head injuries showed bleeding and there was blood all over the road. The police snatched the tricolour flags. So, senior students passed the flags on to the junior students who held them tightly and bore the brunt. VANDE MATARAM VANDE MATARAM – every student gave the full throated cry and even the attacking police, officers and men, British and Indian were amazed at the tenacity, determination and devotion to the patriotic cause exhibited by the student community.
The senior students were arrested, put in police vans and driven to the district jail. The injured were taken to hospital and junior boys were told to go home as their parents were concerned about their well being.
I must mention that the student community was in the forefront of freedom struggle all over the country. The international powers did take this fact into account when they pressured the White Hall in London to grant independence to India.
Independence came to us, to our country just five years, five months and a few hours after the success of Quit India movement in which the young generation had played a significant role. 15th August 1947 was and is our Independence Day. Long Live Independent India.

Hina Rabbani is here to build bridges OR DISMANTLE THEM.

AUM.
HINA RABBANI kHAR IS BUILDING BRIDGES OR DISMANTLING
By Brigadier Chitranjan Sawant,VSM
Hina, foreign minister of Pakistan is here in India to make friends, to strengthen friendship between the two arch-rivals so that a new and relaxed atmosphere is created. An assured security will bring in prosperity; if prosperity comes, can Peace be far behind?
Hina has her task cut out. She knows it has pitfalls. She wishes to be a success when stalwarts like Zulfiqar Bhutto had failed. Perhaps it was a deliberate failure to gain mileage to rule Pakistan after whipping up anti-India emotions. Hina has a different road to travel on. Hina Rabbani professes that she is not carrying any baggage from the past. However, we should not forget that not long ago she was a member of the PML(Q), a political party that was nurtured by General Pervez Musharraf. This gives her an advantage too. The Pakistan Army, a force in political arena of the Islamic Republic, is on board with her. No more no less.
TIMES HAVE CHANGED
Hina has broken Zulfiqar's record of being the youngest foreign minister of Pakistan. Friend Zulfi was just 35 when sworn- in, in the General Ayub Khan cabinet. Hina has broken that record as she is just 34 and sitting confidently in saddle as the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Times have changed and much water has flown down the Ganges in India and the Indus in Pakistan between the years of Zulfi and Hina. While it must be conceded to the Truth that the two nuclear-armed countries are not yet friendly but multi-faceted plans and projects have been launched to give a semblance of peace and friendship. Achieving Peace Perfect may appear to be chasing a Mirage and both Hina and her Indian counterpart, Krishna know it.
Hina cannot wipe out the inimical feelings between the two countries in just one trip to New Delhi. However, her dialogues with the Indian leaders may reduce the level of animosity between the Saffron and the Green.
FAUX PAS ON DAY ONE
Hina Rabbani Khar met the separatist leaders of Kashmir on the first day of setting her foot on the Indian soil. Among those whom the Pakistan High Commission in NewDelhi hosted to meet the new Foreign Minister were the diehard separatist Gilani and pro-Pakistan Mir Waiz. Examining the event diplomatically, an astute diplomat would not hesitate to say that Hina Rabbani Khar should have met the Indian leaders first before seeing the separatist Kashmiri leaders and thus indirectly stoking the fire of unrest, violence and hatred for India. Allow me to call a spade a spade and say "Dear Foreign Minister of Pakistan, you have not put your best foot forward on the Indian soil and it has detracted from peace efforts being made by the two neighbours.
When the two erstwhile belligerent nations do sabre rattling more often than emit signals of Peace and brotherhood, every step that the negotiating leaders take should exude sweetness of a Rose and not bitterness of bitter gourd. More so when the leaders of India and Pakistan talking Peace happen to be Foreign Ministers of their respective countries. When the Pakistan Foreign Minister met the separatist Kashmiri diehards, the world was watching with powerful binoculars despite the parleys being held behind thick curtains of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. The not so subtle comment could be: Pakistan has Peace on lips but hidden dagger in hand to stab in the back. Well, does it mean that Hina is here just to pay lip service to Peace? In other words Pakistan is pursuing the cloak and dagger policy directly and not through its notorious ISI. Be that as it may Pakistan is committed to follow its own agenda and India has its own. Nevertheless, stoking the fire of separatism and promoting Kashmiris who advocate secessionism was certainly not the best diplomacy that Pakistan practised on the Indian soil.
Hina Rabbani Khar, your credibility as a negotiator for Peace on the Continent has taken a beating. The dent thus made in the image of the Peace maker would not be watered down despite all the charm that you exude through your good looks and perfect etiquette. Being a member of the landed aristocracy of southern Punjab and having received education in Lahore and Massachusetts, your art of conversation is above reproach. However, it is the wrong advice of bureaucrats and diplomats of yesteryears in Islamabad who still believe in fomenting trouble between the two neighbours. They have to be reined in.
Should the foreign minister realise the diplomatic faux pas committed in receiving and talking to the Hurriyat diehards before meeting the Indian minister, she may make amends by suitably advising those bearded gentlemen of the Kashmir valley to contribute to Peace and not indulge in senseless violence.
The diplomatic world will wait and watch how Hina and Krishna talk Peace in 2012 and what their achievements will be. The parleys should not be reduced to just a photo-op.
WHAT DID TALKS ACHIEVE
Frankly speaking the talks in New Delhi in July 2011 were an exercise in futility. The two ministers met, they smiled diplomatically and they parted with a promise to meet again. In the diplomatic language the talks were described as good because they were held in cordial atmosphere. The two ministers agreed to press on with confidence building measures like release of unwanted prisoners from Jails, increasing trade across the border and bringing the culprits of 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai to justice soon. Hina got away with the excuse that the legal system in both the countries is rather slow. At best the talks provided a good photo opportunity. That is it.
India seems to be a loser in not having succeeded in bringing the Islamist Terror to the table of discussion in a forceful way. There is no mention of Pakistan’s ISI providing support to acts of terrorism in India. Hina Rabbani Khar described our view of Terror as Dated. In other words what India complains is not relevant to today’s talks. She scored a point for Pakistan. Again, she justified her meeting the separatist leaders of Kashmir as reaching out to people in a democratic set up and her foreign secretary defended it as not being anti-India. Total rubbish their pleas were as they acted against India on ground and professed Peace on paper. No wonder Nirupama Rao, our foreign secretary admitted that she was not happy with the progress of peace talks between the two neighbours.
India should not have allowed separatist leaders to meet the foreign minister of Pakistan on the soil of India as it would give a boost to secession of Kashmir from India.
Well, all said and done, there is no requirement to meet leaders of the government of Pakistan if they are not prepared to discuss Terror and discontinue other measures taken by their agencies to destabilise India. Fake Indian currency is being printed in Pakistan and sent to India to disrupt our economy and we do not even mention it in a joint meeting like the present one.
The lack of will and effort on the part of India to press its points and make Pakistan listen to what we say only means that one of the Indian top leaders is angling for Nobel Peace Prize and, therefore, he is projecting himself as the Messiah of Peace and harbinger of tranquillity and prosperity. The facts on the ground speak otherwise. May I advise the said gentlemen to sleep in comfort as no Nobel Prize is likely to come his way.

AMERICA ISRAEL RELATIONS WORSEN

AUM
AMERICA AND ISRAEL ON COLLISON COURSE
By Brigadier Chitranjan Sawant,VSM

Unbelievable but true it is that the United States of America and Israel are not bosom friends any more. The closeness that the two countries experienced since the birth of the only Jewish state in the world in the late 1940s on cessation of hostilities in World War II is conspicuous by its absence now. The change in the very warm and friendly relationship between the two countries is a direct result of the new Middle-East policy formulated by President Barack Obama. He extended his hand of friendship to the Muslim community to end the confrontation between the major Christian but secular state, USA and the Arab-Muslim countries of the Middle-East. Obama’s idea was to have bon-homie, peace and prosperity in the conflict region so that America does not have to do Policing time and again. Of course making peace overtures to the Islamic countries of the region did not go well with Israel as it hurt its vital interests.
The Jewish community in the United States, especially in the New York state is sizeable in numbers and economic prosperity and thereby exercises political influence. The changed Mid-East policy of USA has not gone well with the Jewish-Americans. The general perception is that Obama has shown this tilt towards Muslim interests because of his own Islamic background. Isn’t it a fact that his biological and real father is a practising Muslim from Kenya and was introduced as such at the Presidential inauguration ceremony in Washington DC. Further, Barack Obama spent the impressionable period of his life in Indonesia, a predominantly Muslim country. Perhaps that explains the tilt towards Islam in the new foreign policy of USA being promoted byBarack Obama now.
CONFLICT AREAS
The eye of the Islamic world is presently focussed on the manner and method that USA will adopt to implement the new foreign policy of keeping both Israel and Palestine on board in the formation of a new full fledged State with economically viable and militarily defensible borders. The real clash of political interest between Israel and Palestine starts here. America wants to create a new state of Palestine with boundaries that existed prior to the 1967 war between Arabs and Israel that the former lost. Under no circumstances is Israel prepared to cede the territory to Arabs that it had won in the 1967 Arab-Israel war of six days. Benjamin Netanyahu, the present Prime Minister of Israel has already declared the new boundaries of Israel, as proposed by America, as indefensible. The Palestinians wish to have Jerusalem as their capital whereas the Israelis already have the ancient city as their symbolic capital. Jerusalem is dear to heart of Muslims, Christians, and now Jews too. Eventually Jerusalem may turn out to be the main bone of contention. So, one may say that fruits will belong to the man who nurtured the plants and helped them grow into trees.
PERSONAL EQUATIONS
In a round of negotiations,it is the final word that matters. Likewise, it is the Supreme Court that will be the final arbiter of thousands of feet, hands and mouths to feed. Americans were cool, calm and collected when the chips were down and it was a matter of life and death. The Americanshad cheese in their custody what they wanted most.
Sri Benjamin Netanyah, PrimeMinister of the youngest powerful State of the world, Benjamin Netanyahu may find no reception organised for him because of some misunderstanding among the major negotiating powers. In the last two years, that is since Obama became the President of the United States, the relationship between Benjamin Netanyahu, Youngish looking President of the United States do not enjoy a close friendly relationship, what to say of being bosom friends where they can boast of breaking bread together when they move out of the negotiation room. Since the two Prime Ministers have come to the negotiation tables more to poke fun at each other and peep into his private life, if any. Even the Prime Minister of the youngest baby on the world stage has blessed the ongoing talks but did not display own car keys. While discussing the matters of state, it is the tiny tot that draws your attention and leaves the rest to the world community to work on the ticklish state.
In any case it is well known from day one that Barack Obama and Benyamin Netanyahuare not warm to each other. They are barely on nodding terms and hate to look into apple of the eye or find out what the grand child is doing. Even a beginner of military psychology will say that how can they negotiate since the bandage helps commence conversation. It would not be inappropriate for the Prime Minister of country X to say Hello to the Prime Minister of country Y so that there is some thaw in the otherwise cold conversation that had failed to commence.
NO SILVER LINING
The dark clouds are in abundance. There is no silver lining, though. If the doctors do that, the hospital building will collapse. It is said that mere touch of human beings who are blessed with holistic healing will go a long way in making or unmaking of a real hospital.
As of now, leaders of important countries of the world feel cheated on being left out. It is not the food that matters, it is the fact of being seen at the negotiating table that matters. After all it is the human society where one upmanship will remain in currency. It is applicable to men and women of all professions and this kind of politico-social mixing gives the prime minister or any other minister that all important aura that all of us crave for.
Benyamin Netanyahu has already rejected the call of Barack Obama to make the boundaries that existed in 1967 as the base for the negotiation to take off. He has reiterated that those boundaries for Israel are indefensible and, therefore, will render the State of Israel vulnerable even to feeble attacks of one-man army of some unimportant Islamist terror outfit. It appears that the situation will be back to square one and all concerned will go home for a homely reunion with own folks.
